Hornbill partners with two leading data center providers to host it’s cloud infrastructure.
The first is Peer1. With their infrastructure made up of 18 state-of-the art datacenters in 13 cities across North America and Europe and 22 network points of presence (PoPs), the highly secure and redundant IT infrastructure provides Hornbill with a remarkable data center platform upon which we deliver our cloud services.
PEER 1 Hosting is SSAE (Statement on Standards for Attestation Engagements) 16 Type II and CSAE (Canadian Standard on Assurance Engagements) 3416 certified. This means they have undertaken an independent and in-depth audit of their control activities, including the management of technology and related hosting and network services provided to its customers. PEER 1 Hosting renews these certifications every year to prove the effectiveness of our internal controls.
Peer1 provide us with networking infrastructure and bare metal servers. We provide our own complete software stack and manage all of our POD’s from a 24x7x365 network operations center based in the UK.

Our service currently runs out of the following datacenters: –
- Portsmouth UK (primary)
- San Antonio, TX (primary)
- Washington, VA (backup)
One of the latest additions is a new purpose built green data center in the south of England, we migrated all of our European customers to this facility in Q4/2011 – view this video to find out more:
The second is RapidSwitch, with it’s self-owned and managed data centers spread across the UK, and a network designed with two things in mind: no single point of failure, and minimal latency.
It’s company policy for every one of their data centre facilities to be certified to ISO9001 Quality Management System and ISO 27001 Information Security Management System standards as a minimum.
Unlike PEER 1, who rent us bare metal hardware, RapidSwitch rent us only space in their data center, power, and internet connectivity. We provide our own servers, firewalls, and switches as well as the complete software stack, and manage these servers ourselves utilizing our in-house expertise.
This video will give you more information about their datacenter:
Hornbill operates to ISO27001 standard for all its cloud infrastructure and information security management activities.
